Pray for Prisoners
Some are imprisoned as punishment for wrongs they have committed; some are innocent, and unjustly imprisoned. All who are in prison are in need of prayer.
- Pray for prisoner’s relationship with God:
- Experience God’s love
- Acknowledge and receive God’s forgiveness
- Accept Jesus as Savior and LORD
- Bless with a burning desire to serve God Almighty as Master
- Bless with new eyes to see God, His presence, love, & provision
- Wisdom to see the past as He does, see His glory in individual lives
- Forgive past tormentors
- Allow God to work in hearts and accomplish His purposes
- Actively seek God
- Bible reading (bless with a voracious appetite for His Word daily)
- association with other Christians: services, Bible study groups, prayer partners / groups, Bible-based books
- Faithfully attend church services and opportunities to study God’s Word
- Discernment when exposed to false teachings, wisdom to reject
- Daily conviction & repentance of sin
- Relations with the prison and staff
- Respect the authority of the staff (may God provide righteous staff)
- Able to control tempers
- Eat healthy foods
- Forgive daily, seek forgiveness
- Access to Christian services and materials
- Relations with family
- Be committed to strengthening ties with spouse and children
- Opportunities for connecting with family; courage to take advantage of opportunities
- Mature in relationships
- Forgiving and receiving forgiveness
- Commitment to praying for family
- May families pray for prisoners
- Reconciliation with family
- Relations with other prisoners
- Make Godly friends for support and encouragement
- Flee from temptations, harmful associations
- Discernment in whom to trust
- Be a Godly leader
- Be a friend to the lonely, the discouraged, and the lost
- Share burdens and confess one to another with wisdom and discernment
- Safe accountability and support
- Protection
- Resist the snares of Satan
- Shield from drugs and other contraband
- Safe from sexual assault and other victimization
- Remain healthy, free from disease
- The future (whether in prison or out)
- Steadfast in faith and trust in God to direct and protect
- Take advantage of prison (or outside) programs for education, vocational skills, and spiritual Christian connections
- Understand God-given talents and skills, use wisely
- Vision to fulfill the mission God gives
- Network of support systems to reenter society: job, housing, church, friends (or if remaining in prison, in-house support)
- Connect with a true Bible-believing church with good preaching and wise leadership

- Ministers: wisdom to guide, counsel, preach and teach

- Faithful to God’s Word, preaching & teaching Truth
- Provide Scriptural materials and resources (readings, games, music, etc.) for prisoners to access and use
- May prisoners be set free in spirit, if not in body.
